Motion: Amend the policy re: Volunteer Staff Position Changes

Hello SLEC,

The Policy Committee met and voted on several Policy Manual changes this past Thursday, September 25. I will posting a few motions so that SLEC may consider each of these proposals independently. This is Policy Manual proposal 1 of 5 that I will post today.

This proposal pertains to Volunteer Staff Position Changes. As I mention in the attached motion. the Policy Committee believes this changes will allow us to more quickly transfer and leverage existing staff members in other departments to address organizational needs. It also clarifies that the change pertains to non-Director positions; Director appointments must go through an interview process.

Does Deputy Director position count as a non-director position?
@Sean Sparkman Good question. We would consider the Deputy Director a Director-level position. The rationale there is that. in the event that the director steps down, goes on vacation, etc., the deputy is the one running the department. So it's the same leadership level required for that position.

I think the Policy Committee would be amenable to that to clarifying that, and I'll circle back on the best way for us to make that amendment.
