Fellow SLEC members,
I am seeking co-sponsors for a motion outlined below. I have attached evidence that supports the decision to bring forward my motion. I would ask that you review the evidence presented.

Motion:
I move to disaffiliate the Donley County provisional affiliate, thereby terminating its provisional status and any associated recognition or relationship with the Libertarian Party of Texas.

Seeing this happen twice this term is concerning, I hope the body will support this motion this time.
I will co-sponsor

I've searched through past meetings, posts to this forum that include "co-sponsors" or "vote" in the title and I'm not finding anything. What are you talking about?

I have some vague memory of some motion being made by you with little to no notice to the committee as a whole, and that not being given any significant consideration, but I suspect that's a matter of presentation and not substance. And maybe not even during this term?

This was at a in person SLEC meeting where I provided evidence of another provisional county chair having horrible social media posts but my motion was ruled out of order by the chair and when I challenged the ruling the body sided with the chair.

Hmmm, I didn't find it in the minutes, but that tracks with my memory. Perhaps you should've brought it back up in a manner that was in order if you were concerned about it being taken seriously by the body.

If I could suggest an amendment, if allowed by fellow members and accepted by Kenneth, that adds "and to censure Edward Harris for offensive social media posts that contains antisemitic rhetoric."

I strongly believe the last thing we need in our state affiliate is to have a county affiliate or a chair of a county affiliate pulling a LPNH. We have a reputation to keep, and honestly, we can't risk current and potential voters linking antisemitism from those posts to our affiliate.

Attempts were made by rhe affiliate team to locate Mr Harris' social media page and we were unable to locate it for whatever reason. Had i seen any of these comments at the time we would not have moved forward with his application. The comments made in those posts are disgusting and inappropriate to say the least. I fully support this motion and will co-sponsor and will discuss with Andrew and carter to see if there are additional steps we can take to keep this from happening in the future.

I take no pleasure in bringing this motion forward, nor in engaging with it any more than is necessary.

The motion as filed is narrowly focused on the provisional affiliation status of the county. If the body wishes to propose or adopt amendments that expand its scope, members may do so, as permitted by the rules. I do not intend to advocate for or against amendments beyond the scope of the motion as presented.

I will go ahead and cosponsor, with or without amendments. ;)

After this being brought to light I reached out to Donley county and let him know that his social media posts were incompatible with the LP plank and LP Texas as a whole. I let him know that there was a motion made to remove him and that it was more than likely going to pass. Mr Harris took that time to apologize and said that he would be resigning effective immediately as county chair. I will update things today and get comms a new map to post on socials. Thank you Kenneth for bringing this to my attention!
