Resignation and Motion for National Credentials Rep

Dear SLEC,

I need to resign from my nomination as alt-credentials committee rep from TX, which ended up replacing Billy. I have a baby due in 6-7 weeks and I just realized an opportunity to take over the city council seat in my district. It's more beneficial if I focus on those. I originally ran with the intention of serving as a backup to Billy and to offer small support in the background. You can pull up the audio of my speech and at the end I said "don't vote for me". I was not expecting a 3rd person to show interest, so that's why I tried to pawn it off over to Aaron Ramos in my speech.

Because of Billy's and my resignations, I think we need a motion to elect a new credentials rep, and perhaps someone may want to amend to add another alt if there's interest. Anyway:
I motion to select Aaron Ramos as the National Credentials Committee Rep from TX.

First, congratulations on the baby on the way. I’m genuinely impressed that you’re gearing up for a city council run so soon, that’s no small undertaking. I fully support the effort and hope you’ll soon be counted among our elected Libertarians.

I just had staff update the page and will have them refresh it again once this vote concludes. I will also cosponsor your motion to appoint Aaron Ramos.

Okay, we have enough sponsors. What we need now is an alt.

I have a proposal: The vote is likely to close shortly after 48 hours if SLEC hustles. If someone wants to volunteer to be the alt, please say so below in this thread (let's keep all this together); make it easy on yourself and just hit Reply and let us know right now. Please do this within the next 48 hours, while the vote is running.

Anybody who doesn't want to be alt please feel free to reach out to folks you think would be appropriate and do a little recruiting. Let's see if we can find someone to back Aaron up.

When the vote here closes, we'll see where we stand. If we have a volunteer (or two), then we'll need someone to start a new thread proposing a motion and asking for co-sponsors to elect that volunteer or select between those volunteers. If we can't come up with a volunteer for alt, then Aaron declines or resigns or however we need to style that, and we all understand that was the deal. No harm, no foul.

Time to set up the vote....

Oh right. In that case, when I served on National Credentials last time, I voted not to recognize either Oregon delegation because when factions can't sort their shit out they can both suffer as far as I'm concerned, so take that for what you will 😂

Can we do this immediately after we find out if Aaron’s nomination passes?
Jack, I have to say I admire your persistence, but there is no nomination in play here. We have instead a motion to appoint a person to a position, an action entirely within the authority of this body, that will pass or fail over the next couple of days.

And there's no compelling reason to wait to start recruiting volunteers, whether that's my recruiting y'all or your recruiting others. As I stated above, we can start now reaching out to see if anyone else is even interested in this position (one so far). If only one is interested, I'll entertain a motion to appoint that one. If more are interested, we'll deal with that when/if it happens. Either way, because Aaron explicitly requested the support of an alternate, it seems to me we should mush forward and try to sort this all out as expeditiously as this body is capable of.
