Meeting Thur 7/16 - To Meet Or Not To Meet....

Hey team, though I am presently on vacation, I had committed to and blocked out time on our itinerary for the meeting Thursday. That said, I am not a 'meetings for meetings' sake" kind of guy, and I find myself without anything to report or discuss this month that can't be processed on the forum or on Discord. I checked with the officers and XD. and they're in the same boat. It's not that there's nothing going on, it's just that there's nothing going on that's not getting discussed as needed on the forum or Discord already, and we could just keep doing that and give everybody their evening back.

That said, does any other member have anything they were planning to bring to the meeting that requires in-real-time discussion before August? If so, please publish that here so we have an actual reason to meet.

Note: We are in uncharted territory with these informal and with these monthly meetings (a double whammy), so some of this we're going to sort out as we go along. This is some of that. Maybe toward the end of the term we can decide if there's anything we want to put in policy as 'lessons learned' to help the next body.

More of 'that': For a formal meeting with formal business items to process, the Chair would prepare an agenda, and there's an expectation that folks would get any requested agenda items in to the Chair at least a week (preferably two weeks) early so the Chair can go ahead and publish an agenda for everyone's situational awareness. For the informal meetings, I don't think we need to pre-publish a formal agenda, but I do think that going forward it would be appropriate for me to post a thread publishing the things I wanted us to discuss (like I did last time) and also asking if anyone else has anything on their mind, so we're all prepared for the discussion going into the meeting. I expect within the next couple of meetings we'll find our groove.

Broad brush: We have people running for office, people supporting candidates, people working on the website/CRM project, and we've been onboarding some much-needed staff. Overall I'm pleased with the progress we're making and the momentum we're building. That's really all I would've said Thursday if we were to hold a meeting Thursday.

So back to the question: Does anyone have a discussion topic that needs an online discussion Thursday evening; otherwise, please feel free to drop any observations, comments, or questions here over the next few days, and we'll call this July's check-in.

Nothing on my end!

Had a call with the LNC discussing preparations for 2028 national. Mostly room organizations and a few wants/needs discussions with Destination El Paso. They are considering a "Host City Committee" to organize businesses and activities leading up to the convention. They will be having an LNC meeting here in El Paso in December @Paul Darr was also on the call and will fill in any blanks I might have missed. Other than that I got nothing.
