Marketing campaign

Marketing isn’t the same thing as messaging, as many of you know. I’d like to see LPTexas adopt a marketing mindset. Marketing is typically aimed at bringing in more customers, establishing an image/reputation in the minds of the public, etc.

This video from 2 years ago did a great job of marketing, imo.

The Crazy Ones

I’d love it if we could establish a marketing campaign along the lines of “Join us.” aimed directly at increasing the number of members, donors, and those willing to vote L. I’d really love it if we engaged a marketing firm to help ensure we get the greatest ROI of such an endeavor.

I’d like to hear thoughts from SLEC Reps on how we should approach marketing and ideas for how to go about establishing a marketing plan. Admittedly, of all the entrepreneurial concepts, marketing is my kryptonite so if we have folks who work in that field or have relevant experience, I’d love to hear from them too.

It’d also help if we could sway the intra-party culture to be more welcoming so as not to run off new folks if they aren’t libertarian enough upon arrival. Maybe think in terms of “converting” folks instead of informing them of how wrong they are. That is going to take an entirely different effort but I’d like to plan for how to do that as well since it does little good to bring new members in if current membership runs them off. Lol.

Please weigh in here with your thoughts.

Fwiw, the above video on Facebook only garnered 44,000 views. If we did something similar, we could easily pay to boost the video and narrow our target audience using demographics. Roughly 300,000 people have proven willing to vote Libertarian in Texas. Less than 500 of those are dues paying members of LPTexas.

I have lots of ideas but want to take time to think it all out before responding. You are more in the know than myself so maybe you can answer this. Are we utilizing folks that I know are in LPTexas that have special skill sets that can analyze demographics and help make marketing easier? A specific person in LPDenton County is coming to mind.

I’m not savvy of entrepreneurial concepts either but at least approaching a marketing firm to do a campaign would be a great starting point. For many people it’s the constant let down of Congress and legislatures never achieving their preferred policies that push them to third parties. For example, the Democrats would never support non-violent felons being allowed to purchase and possess firearms, only slightly same thing on the Republican side, I think where marketing fails is often I see very blanketed statements about freedom and liberty but never specific points that actually affect someone. For example, and to me shopping on the LP Texas shop is marketing but, we don’t really see things referencing specific second amendment issues in the 2nd amendment genre of the shop. So if there’s any marketing to be done, personally I think citing specific relevant actionable items should be included like court cases, legislation, executive or Governor actions, put in emails and those emails can request donations. Again, this coming from someone with no idea about marketing. These are just things that make sense to me. These photos were taken from Firearms Policy Coalition website and an email please read it to understand why I think their marketing works.
