We have an adequately sponsored motion to elect members to the Committees of the Convention, so we will proceed to a vote.

You can view the motion and discussion in the separate thread here.

This poll will run for up to 96 hours, and may be closed after 48 hours if the majority threshold for passing is met.

Copied from Anastasia's post for those that want to see the motion here.

Fellow SLEC members,
It came to my attention as I was refreshing myself on our committee election procedures that our vote to elect people to the Committees of the Convention was void per Bylaws of SLEC VII.F Voting in Meetings since NOTA was not present on the ballot and submitting a blank ballot was not possible.

After consultation with Andrew and Christy for how best to resolve this while hopefully keeping the will of the body intact, I drafted the above motion which will simply allow us to take an up or down vote on the entire list of people who were announced as elected following the balloting at the November SLEC meeting. This will preserve the right to elect none of the candidates, without having to reballot the entire thing or go committee by committee.

And I would have waited to present this until after the current vote was completed, but the presumed Bylaws Committee has a meeting scheduled tonight and I wanted this to be announced to SLEC before the presumed committee members had to be informed tonight as to why we can’t do the business we had originally intended to complete tonight.

With all of that said, I am requesting co-sponsors and, following that, your votes in favor for the following motion:

Be it moved that LPTexas elects the following slate of people to serve on the 2026 Committees of the Convention.

Platform Committee:
David Constant
Christy Ford
Billy Pierce
Darren Pollok (temporary Chair)
Nolan Schmidt
Amanda Gibbs
Jack Westbrook

Credentials Committee:
Scott Peterson
Lisa Schlinkert
Matthew Gibbs
Bo Zimmerman (temporary Chair)
Jocelyn Pantke
Jessi Cowart
Mike Dooling

Bylaws:
Anastasia Wilford
John David Roberson
John Wilford (temporary Chair)
Paul Darr
Joe Roberts

I just saw this vote now after it closed. Some of us don't look at the Forum every day. Please send an email to the SLEC email list formally advising the members whenever there is a vote pending.

That's already a function of the forum. You can configure the email notifications to whatever you want.

Everything seems to be checked off for me to receive notifications from the Forum, but I rarely get any. And I don't want notifications of everyone posting on the Forum, but rather specific notifications as a SLEC member that an official vote is in progress. This should be sent from the Secretary or someone she designates to the entire SLEC email list each time there is a vote.

Kk, well on a personal note, I find it audacious for someone in the party who says personal responsibility is a solution to government overreach to say that they don't check the form every day causing them to miss votes, thinks the solution is that someone else should put in work to fix it for them and I'll leave it at that because I don't think there's any common ground to be found on this issue and it's not my decision on whether the officers decide to check the forum every day and do that work for you so you don't have to.

Note to all concerned: Our ever-vigilant IT Department has uncovered a technical problem with our email system that has blocked some forum notifications from going out. That may or may not explain Ted's problem (they're still figuring that out), but there have been some emails that were blocked. Ted, have you already checked your junk mail and verified that the LPTexas Forum sending address (outgoing@lptexas.org) is white-listed in your address book?

I think the fix here is not to impose an affirmative duty on another SLEC member to send out additional notifications, but to solve the problem of why Ted's not getting forum notifications. Working on it; further bulletins as events warrant.
