Fellow SLEC members,
I am requesting Co-Sponsors to start the vote on the Convention Committee members via OppaVote using the vote threshold in the motion we passed at the Nov SLEC meeting. Using the list of applicants that submitted the application listed below.
Be it moved we form the Convention Planning Committee in accordance with
V.d.4.i.D. Committees of the Convention and set it so that it shall have up to 5
members to fulfill its duties as prescribed by SLEC.
The primary objective of the Committee is to hold the Libertarian State
convention in accordance with state law in order to conduct official party
business while being fiscally responsible. The secondary objectives include
spreading the message of Liberty and individual Freedom in an atmosphere
conducive to productivity with opportunities to socialize and great connections
amongst delegates and attendees.

The Committee’s purview includes 5 main activities: venue operations and
Oversight, event programming and planning , venue selection process (with final venue selection and authorized spend limits to be approved by SLEC), assisting other Committees of the Convention upon their request, and reporting. The committee shall provide SLEC with no less than 3 convention proposals.

The Committee shall adopt policies in accordance with V.d.4.v. Right to Submit
Proposals to Committees for venue selection, speakers, and other
Entertainment.

The chair shall open nominations and the voting method shall be Approval
Voting. The committee will be populated by those nominees that gain the
highest votes, and ties for a seat will be decided by a majority of SLEC. No
nominee will be elected that does not obtain at least 50% approval of all ballots
cast for that committee. If a member resigns from the committee before it is
disbanded, the remaining committee members may choose to fill the vacancy.

I'll co-sponsor

Actually, I'm withdrawing my co-sponsor until we get a ruling from the Chair about whether or not it is in order in an online vote to elect members to the committee with only a majority of ballots cast instead of a majority of membership like the rest of our online votes are required to have.

ah that could be a issue, if the chair rules otherwise I will close this and rework it and post it again.

I would recommend this be reworded to say that the winners of an online poll on the forum (and define what it means to win) will be appointed since in Bylaws of SLEC it really doesn't talk about elections it talks about motions which are distinct from elections. That is the wording I have used in the past. It's not an election, it's a poll of SLEC and the motion is what appoints them. That bypasses both the requirements of RONR and our bylaws for elections.

Thanks for pointing that out. I am going to lock this thread and rework this to fit within our rules.
