LP National has published, on the LP Website, an official call for the end of Birthright Citizenship.

"To help balance the conflict between those who want migration freedom and those concerned about dangerous persons coming over, the Libertarian Party calls for an end to birthright citizenship and reformation of the citizenship process."

As this is not in alignment with the platform of LP Texas, I would like to gauge interest from this body in a resolution to make clear the LP Texas position on Birthright Citizenship, as it currently aligns with our platform and the US Constitution. This is not intended to start a Twitter fight with National, but rather to make the LP Texas position clear.

If you would be in support of a carefully worded Resolution making clear our position, please let me know. I do not wish to spend the hours crafting such a resolution if this body is more aligned with LP National and agrees with their position.

I'm really interested to review the minutes and figure out in which part of which convention the LP called for this because I suspect it would be at the part of the convention that occurs at McArdle's kitchen table after everyone goes home 😮‍💨

If they are issuing a public retraction, I'm willing to do the same, but that was a rather large oversight. Hopefully, LPN will be more careful moving forward and will be able to catch it a lot quicker than a month after it's put up. I'm glad this is getting attention, and thank you to whoever caught it for getting the ball rolling. :)

Are we willing to spend another hour at our quarterly meeting to complain about national or a caucus? I'm voting no on this. Nobody cares what LPTX stance is on what national is doing. I'm calling this dilatory.
I hate to say the bad news out loud but we're an affiliate of the 4th largest political party in the nation. I don't think a whole lot of the population cares about any of this. If we're only taking a stance when we think people care it's not a stance, it's a performance and we don't deserve to be back in 3rd much less 1st. That said it does seem like this has resolved itself so this particular issue may or may not be a good use of our time. I'm actually on the fence at this point.

I second this emotion. If the issue has been addressed and fixed from national it is not a pressing need to basically affirm our platform.

Why can I not see the comment to which you are replying? It says:
