Q2 - Waco - Agendas, Reports, and Motions

Had a request to copy Nathan's post in its entirety over here so it's viewable in the public forum, so here ya go:

Dear SLEC Members,

The LPTexas Convention Planning Committee is pleased to present our venue report for the 2026 State Convention. After a thorough evaluation process, we have identified four finalist venues and ranked them based on logistics, cost, flexibility, and overall suitability for our event.

This report represents the result of over 12 hours of committee meetings, along with countless additional hours spent on site visits, proposal reviews, and direct coordination with venue staff. The committee has worked incredibly well together, and I’m proud of the thoughtful, collaborative work every member has contributed.

Please note that final A/V costs may fluctuate depending on the actual number of hours used by each venue’s A/V team during the convention. We’ve included current estimates based on our best projections.

Attached to this post, you’ll find:

  • The venue report, including our internal rankings and recommendations.
  • Individual proposals and floor plans for each venue.
We encourage all SLEC members to review the materials ahead of our quarterly meeting next Saturday. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to comment here—we’re happy to clarify or provide additional context.

Regardless of which venue is ultimately selected, we’re confident that this team will deliver an outstanding convention experience that brings our members together and moves our party forward.

In liberty,
Nathan Polsky
Chair, Convention Planning Committee

Just a heads up to the body that I will likely be moving to amend the minutes that we will be voting to approve at the meeting on Saturday. I have sent the attached documents to the Secretary for her consideration, but as I haven't heard back about whether or not she will be implementing the changes, I wanted to give the body as much notice as possible so they can review those amendments before voting on them at the meeting.

If you have any questions about any of the changes I'm recommending, please feel free to ask.

I have been working on the suggested changes amidst my work obligations, getting ready for the SLEC meeting, as well as the final push before election day this Saturday. I should have my amended minutes posted tonight.

You're welcome to use the copies I was going to provide to the committee, should my amendments have passed.
